HONG KONG, 18 February 2014 – Anderson Lee, President and CEO of Pinneco Research Limited, was invited to be a panel speaker at the SourceTrends 2014, "Tackling Compliance and Sustainability," hosted by ecVision at The Peninsula Hotel this past week.

The SourceTrends 2014 is an event that focuses on compliance and sustainability in Hong Kong for apparel, footwear, soft line brands, retailers, manufacturers, and major suppliers. It is an industry-wide event that acknowledges the importance of sustainability.

This event took a full-day agenda planned with five panel discussions, addressing issues concerning supply chain product safety, supplier facility compliance and sustainability. Topic areas include "The Current State of US CPSIA & REACH", "China's Changing Regulations", "Compliance of the Wake of Tragedy", "Greening the Supply Chain", and "Conflict Minerals Management & CA Green Chemical Regulations". Each panel speaker spoke for 45 minutes and had 15-minute Q & A sessions for attendees to interact with the speakers.

Along with Professor Yeung Kwok Wing, Executive Director of Clothing Industry Training Authority (CITA), and Lee, as the Vice President of the Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium (SFBC), were panel speakers for the topic Greening the Supply Chain. Both Lee and Yeung agreed that greening the supply chain would demand global transparency.

"Having transparency within the supply chain helps with driving improvement processes and initiatives. Transparency provides stables to compare and illustrate," Lee explained. "You may wonder where the common grounds and neutrality of transparency then lies, and I believe it is found in a collaboration of the whole industry, brands, retailers, and suppliers together. The Higg Index, created by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), celebrates this collaboration across the supply chain and has created a global language, the Higg Index, as the platform to display transparency. The Higg Index is an industry initiative that has been present for seven years, evolving from the Eco Index from the Outdoor Industry Association. Ultimately, creating a global language is one of the first steps in greening the supply chain," declared Lee.
