(Somerville, MA – July 7, 2015) - - Clean Bottle, the company that revolutionized the water bottle with a screw off bottom for easy cleaning, has redesigned the original sport bottle, fully made and manufactured within the U.S. The original Clean Bottle was launched at the Tour de France in 2010 via an epic stunt where the founder donned a giant “Bottle Boy” costume and chased the best cyclists in the world to compete for television air time and fan attention. In only two weeks, Clean Bottle sold over $70,000 worth of bottles and landed a significant retail presence.
Designed with functionality and performance in mind, the updated bottle is made entirely in the USA and features a new shape that fits more snugly into bottle cages and an added texture on the body and caps, making the bottle easier to grip and the caps easier to open than its predecessor. Now offered in two sizing options, 20 ounces and 23 ounces, the 2.0 version offers customers more options and features a lower price point. The bottle will be available in four color options (blue, black, green and red), is dishwasher safe and is guaranteed for life.
Five years after its launch, Clean Bottle remains just as authentic to their commitment to sport and social responsibility and has achieved their goal to shift towards a “Made in the U.S.A.” initiative. The decision to manufacture 100% of the sport bottle within the U.S.A. is a natural progression of the company’s direction and the product development process. Clean Bottle Director of Sales and Marketing, Lee Peters, comments, “This is a goal we have been working towards for a long time and we are excited to finally see it come to fruition.”
Clean Bottle got its start when the founders, competitive cyclists and triathletes, grew tired of constantly having to clean out the gunk and mold from the bottom of their water bottles. Thus began the process of designing a water bottle with a screw-off bottom for easy cleaning. Today the company offers a full line of sport and lifestyle bottles sold in many top retailers throughout the U.S., including L.L. Bean, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bed, Bath and Beyond, REI, and Performance Bike.
The Made in the U.S.A bottle is available now on www.cleanbottle.com. It retails at $9.95 for 23 oz. and $8.95 for 20 oz. For more information on Clean Bottle, visit www.cleanbottle.com, friend Clean Bottle on Facebook, or follow @cleanbottle on Twitter and Instagram.
About Clean Bottle
After constantly struggling to clean out the gunk and mold from the bottom of his water bottle, David Mayer, an Ironman triathlete and Stanford graduate from Silicon Valley, had the idea for Clean Bottle. In 2010, Mayer designed a water bottle with a screw-off bottom for easy cleaning and debuted “Bottle Boy”, donning a giant water bottle costume to chase riders in the Tour de France. Throughout those two weeks of chasing the best cyclists in the world to compete for TV air-time and fan attention, Clean Bottle sold over $70,000 in bottles. Today, Clean Bottle can now be found in over 4,000 retail stores and major distributors throughout the US and Europe including REI, Performance Bicycle, Dicks, 24 Hour Fitness, Sports Chalet, GNC and local bike shops nationwide. Sales of the original cycling Clean Bottle went so well that the company was able to develop the award winning Square bottle, whose iconic design was a Kickstarter success.
