For Spring 2015, OR continues its focus on functional innovation – making products better, not simply new and different – with groundbreaking offerings in the rapidly evolving category of Active Insulation, in Technical Outerwear, Mountain Life, and with its new ActiveIce™ technology. Specific areas of innovation include:
- The Deviator Hoody™, a superlight, hybrid insulation piece featuring Polartec® Alpha. By virtue of its forward-thinking pairing of Alpha and other materials, the Deviator is at the forefront of how Active Insulation technology is evolving, it’s made to be worn through a wide range of activities, without forcing an athlete to adjust, add or remove layers.
- ActiveIce™ technology, an active-cooling technology that lowers skin temperature up to five degrees as you sweat. ActiveIce™ is integrated in four new products, including sun sleeves and three different styles of headwear.
- A melding of softshell and hardshell performance with superb ventilation in the Allout™ Jacket and Pants. Built for fast-and-light activities and designed to adapt quickly when the weather is less than perfect, the Allout pieces defy easy categorization.
- An evolution of the way technical fabrics are incorporated into apparel that looks outwardly casual. New pieces in the Mountain Life collection nail the concept of mountain style, but seamlessly morph into technical tools. In the men’s line, the Goldrush Jeans™ offer a great-looking everyday fit, but with built-in stretch and cotton/nylon/Cordura®-blend denim that is four times more durable than regular denim. In women’s pieces, the Umbra Hoody™ offers a unique yet casual look in a beautiful silhouette – without outwardly advertising that its drirelease® Tencel fabric dries four times faster than cotton and provides odor control.
- Continued innovation and superb cross-functionality for different endurance-focused activities in Outdoor Research’s HighEx category. Built for high-exertion sports like trail running and functional training, new pieces in HighEx include the highly ventilated and wicking Octane Tee™ and the versatile Essentia Tights™.
Altogether, there are 66 new and updated products in the Spring 2015 line.
