Allied Feather & Down to Launch Down Educational Series at Outdoor Retailer Breakfast


Montebello, Calif. (July 15, 2014)Allied Feather & Down, a leading purveyor of down for the outdoor industry, will host a breakfast seminar at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market as the official kickoff to the brand’s new global down education initiative. The breakfast will take place Friday, Aug. 8 at 7:30 a.m. in the Salt Palace (room 151G), and will have a special focus on the Responsible Down Standard.

Industry panelists:

  • Daniel Uretsky, COO, Allied Feather & Down
  • Anne Gillespie, Director of Industry Integrity, Textile Exchange
  • Adam Mott, Director of Sustainability, The North Face

Uretsky will lead a discussion on how consistent quality, responsible sourcing and traceability brings added value and assurance to brands and retailers worldwide.

The group will specifically dive into the progress and current status of Textile Exchange’s Responsible Down Standard (RDS) and the benefit of RDS Certified down to brands and retailers. The RDS allows outdoor industry brands to audit and ensure the ethical treatment of all animals in its down supply chain and validate all claims through an established chain of custody process.

General Discussion Outline:

  • Part I: Adam Mott to discuss the background and need of the RDS from the brand’s perspective.
  • Part II: Daniel Uretsky to discuss the complexities of down, the down supply chain and what Allied has done to create traceability and transparency in this supply chain.
  • Part III: Anne Gillespie to speak about how the RDS will work from a pragmatic point of view to guarantee compliance.
  • Part IV: Daniel Uretsky will conclude with how the RDS and Allied’s traceability initiatives bring added value to both brands and retailers

The breakfast at Outdoor Retailer is the first stop in North American for Allied’s educational initiative involving speaking engagements at events and retailers worldwide.
