LEKI Sponsors Team YogaSlackers for the 2013-14 Adventure Racing Season

Buffalo, NY – LEKI, the market leader in skiing, trekking and Nordic walking poles, is proud to announce its exclusive sponsorship of Team YogaSlackers for the 2013 – 14 adventure racing season. The team is made up of three men and one woman, plus alternatives, who participate in the world’s most influential adventure races.

“We are excited to partner with such an elite team of endurance athletes who really put their gear to the test,” said Greg Wozer, VP of LEKI USA. “These guys train and race in extreme weather conditions and across some of the most diverse terrain, which in turn provides us with invaluable feedback on our trekking poles.”

Touted as one of the most eclectic group of adventure athletes ever, Team YogaSlackers’ Jason Magness, Chelsey Magness, Erik Sanders and Dan Staudigel are not only top endurance racers, but are also Cirque de Soliel level acrobats, accomplished climbers, and slackline daredevils (highlines over canyons, etc). They participate in self powered expeditions (2xtm.com), and all four of them are yoga teachers. Often racing as Team GearJunkie/YogaSlackers, they participate in some of the most “extreme” gear testing for GearJunkie.com.

Team YogaSlackers is one of only two teams in the world to podium in the Patagonian Expedition Race three years in a row. Most recently, they came in second place in the Cowboy Tough Expedition Race held in Wyoming earlier this month, consisting of 290 – 390 miles and four days of trekking, mountain biking, road biking, paddling, ropes, and other team challenges. Team Tecnu Adventure Racing, who also races with LEKI trekking poles, won the title.

Currently, Team Yogaslackers is racing with the LEKI Micro Vario Carbon poles and said this about their performance during the Cowboy Tough race: “The new LEKI poles were flawless, especially during the 10,000’ elevation gain in the blaring 98 degree heat. We were on the verge of collapse the entire time and couldn’t have made it without our LEKI poles.”
