New Media Preview Gives Journalist First Look at Innovative New Products and Gear at
2015 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market
Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition new Pitchfest program and winner highlighted at Media Preview
San Juan Capistrano, CA, June 1, 2015—Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, the leading event for retailers and brands of outdoor gear, products, technology and accessories, is pleased to announce the launch of a Media Preview event. Journalists attending the show will have exclusive access to preview some of the latest products and new exhibitors in the outdoor lifestyle industry.
The Media Preview will be held the day before the show opens—from 5:00-7:30 pm on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 across from the Salt Palace Convention Center at the Salt Lake City, Marriot City Creek Hotel Ballroom. The Summer Market Media Preview will feature brands with table top display to present their new products to the industry. Exhibiting brands interested in participating in the Media Preview must complete the online application.
Outdoor Retailer is pleased to work with the Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC), to highlight OIWC’s The Workshop: Pitchfest initiative at the Summer Market Media Preview event. The winner of the 2015 Pitchfest and representatives from OIWC will be on hand to meet one-on-one with media in attendance to talk about the program and their winning innovation.
Pitchfest is the initial phase in OIWC’s The Workshop initiative exhibiting OIWC’s commitment to building an industry where great ideas, born from a diversity of experiences, thrive. Women are invited to submit their new innovation or product ideas for a chance to live pitch in front of influential industry CEO’s and gain insight, visibility, and valuable feedback at a workshop prior to Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, where the winner will be selected.
“Pitchfest is one facet of the larger OIWC strategy to showcase the innovative ideas and incomparable talent of women passionate about the outdoors,” explains Deanne Buck, Executive Director of OIWC. “Our partnership with Outdoor Retailer allows us to provide valuable visibility to entrepreneurial women, with fresh ideas, who are primed to elevate the industry.”
Journalists will be able to meet with the participating brands at their convenience, during the two-and a half hour event. Beverages and appetizers will be served. Journalist participating in the Outdoor Retailer Open Air Demo, will arrive back in time to attend the media preview. Designated shuttles at the Open Air Demo will ensure journalist can attend both events.
“The media preview will provide exhibiting brands and the media an opportunity to have in-depth conversations about product benefits and features in a more relaxed, intimate setting, away from the meetings and activity on the show floor,” said Kate Lowery, Director of PR and Communications for Outdoor Retailer. “We are also pleased to support the OIWC in promoting women entrepreneurs, by including their Pitchfest winner in the preview. By doing so, we are able to give the media a glimpse into the future innovation in the outdoor industry.”
