Icebreaker Hires Brian Mecham As U.S. General Manager

Portland, Oregon (September 9, 2014) – Icebreaker, the New Zealand company that pioneered outdoor merino wool apparel, today announced that Brian Mecham will join the brand as U.S. General Manager. Brian will be responsible for Icebreaker’s business interests in the U.S., overseeing wholesale, retail and eCommerce sales; and the supporting operations and customer service teams.

"Brian is a highly motivated strategist with a deep understanding of the outdoor industry and a proven ability to motivate and inspire his team,” says Rob Fyfe, Icebreaker Chief Executive Officer. “Also, his passion for rock climbing and love of skiing resorts and in the backcountry demonstrates that adventures in nature are his lifeblood making him the perfect fit for Icebreaker."

A 20-year veteran of the outdoor industry, Brian brings to Icebreaker a core industry experience that includes a hands-on, deep and broad understanding of the North American outdoor and sporting goods market. He previously served as Vice President of Sales for Black Diamond Equipment, responsible for all North American wholesale and Direct to Consumer sales and international distributors. Brian also spent many years in North American wholesale sales for Patagonia. Brian’s passion for outdoor pursuits, such as climbing and skiing, have allowed him to blend his personal and professional lives seamlessly.untry demonstrates that adventures in nature are his lifeblood making him the perfect fit for Icebreaker.”
