OSLO, Norway (March 24, 2016) —Helly Hansen’s Elevation Shell Jacket has become the 139-year-old brand’s most award-winning product with recent accolades coming from the Red Dot design jury in Essen, Germany. This month the Elevation Shell Jacket was recognized as a leader among 5,214 new products in the competition reviewed by a jury of 41 design experts, including ICE and Transrapid designer Alexander Neumeister, fashion icon Jimmy Choo and automotive design legend Chris Bangle.

The professional-grade Elevation jacket received the award based on its functionality, degree of innovation and recognized quality. Built for big mountain skiers, the jacket features extra durable Helly Tech® fabrics with a combination of an air permeable membrane and H2Flow™ temperature regulation system that uses PrimaLoft® Silver Insulation Active. The exclusive design makes it the burliest, most breathable and highest performing jacket in Helly Hansen’s ULLR freeride ski apparel collection.

“The Elevation Shell Jacket is truly unique in its design. Its durability and comfort features make it ideal for a broad range of winter conditions,” said Philip Tavell, Category Managing Director for Ski. “The Red Dot award is especially meaningful because Helly Hansen’s product was up against so many other top designs in multiple categories. It’s a great honor to receive this recognition and is a compliment to the collaboration between our product development team and global ski ambassadors.”

Helly Hansen has consistently introduced state-of-the-art designs and technical innovations since its founding in 1877, including the first supple waterproof fabrics for the commercial fishing industry 139 years ago, the first pile fabrics in the 1960s, the first technical base layer in 1971 and the H2Flow™ temperature regulation system in 2012.

The Elevation Shell Jacket is part of Helly Hansen’s 2016-17 ULLR™ freeride outerwear collection, available in September 2016, that caters to skiers who pursue high-intensity experiences beyond resort terrain and require the utmost protection and versatility in apparel.
