
Hostetter is the editorial director of SNEWS and The Voice. She served at BACKPACKER's gear editor for 22 years, and is the author of four books: Backpacker's Complete Guide to Outdoor Gear Care and Maintenance, Adventure Journal, The 10 Essentials of Outdoor Gear: What You Need to Stay Alive, Don't Forget the Duct Tape, and The Tent and Car Camper's Handbook. She has appeared as a gear expert on many national TV shows including TODAY, The Early Show, and The Martha Stewart Show.
Hostetter is also a co-founder of the Plastic Impact Alliance, a consortium of outdoor companies dedicated to reducing their use of single-use plastic.
