The Big Gear Show

The Big Gear Show (BGS) is an event for paddlers, bikers, climbers, and campers. Unlike other outdoor shows, which are either strictly trade focused (like Outdoor Retailer or Grassroots Outdoor Alliance Connect) or consumer-facing expos like Sea Otter Classic, Canoecopia, or Outerbike, BGS takes a hybrid approach, with a business-to-business (B2B) hardgoods trade show followed by a consumer (B2C) day. BGS’s goal is to service hardgoods retailers and manufacturers at much lower cost than other large-format outdoor trade shows.

BGS, which has partnered with National Bike Dealers Association (NBDA), will make its debut at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah, from July 21 to 25, 2020.

BGS was founded by Sutton Bacon, former chairman and CEO of the Nantahala Outdoor Center, former Outdoor Industry Association board member, and co-founder of Paddlesports Retailer and Darren Bush, owner of Rutabaga Paddlesports and Canoecopia, former OIA and Outdoor Foundation board member, co-founder of Paddlesports Retailer.
