(Irvine, CA – January 10, 2016) Zamst, a global leader in high-performance sports injury prevention and protective equipment, announces the renewal of their partnership with 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials Champion and two-time Olympian Amy Cragg, as her performance bracing support provider.
Cragg, a California native, has excelled on both U.S. and international long-distance running stages; most recently with her win at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and ninth place finish in the Marathon at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Prior to that, Cragg finished just one spot off the podium and U.S. Olympic team at the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials. However, her innate competitive nature and determination fueled her quest for redemption, and led her to victory at the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials. Beyond her athletic success, Cragg is recognized for being an inspiring teammate. She demonstrated a remarkable act of teamwork at the Olympic Trials when she encouraged her training partner, Shalane Flanagan, through a battle with dehydration mid-race.
“We are thrilled to continue supporting Amy by creating products that will allow her to remain healthy, train injury free, and confidently line up on race day to compete,” said Bryan Smeltzer, General Manager for Zamst U.S. “Zamst sports bracing and support products provide a superior level of protection and injury prevention, and aligning with world class elite athletes, like Amy who have dominated their sport, allows us to demonstrate the superiority of our products for all runners.”
Injury prevention always remains a top priority for Cragg. She recognizes her ability to stay healthy and maintain consistent training as key factors to success. Zamst’s injury prevention products such as the RK-1, IT Band Syndrome corrective brace, the IW-1 Set, compression icing brace, and the AT-1, Achilles Tendinitis product, are ideal for runners because of the support, compression, and circulation benefits. The AT-1 incorporates a lightweight fabrication with Heel Lock Technology to keep the heel in a neutral position and prevent it from inward (Pronation) or outward (Supination) rotation. This Achilles reinforcement was crucial to supporting Cragg during workouts and preparations leading up to the Olympic Games.
“The Achilles is a very scary injury for runners,” said Cragg. “Once inflamed, an Achilles injury can keep resurfacing and even end running careers. Personally, Zamst’s AT-1 allowed me to continue training, reduce stress on my Achilles tendon, and expedite the healing process. I aim to be proactive when injuries arise and with Zamst’s mobile compression and ice braces, I am able to attack pain immediately and effectively.”
Cragg joins other athletes on the “Z-Team” that have recently renewed their partnerships with Zamst including NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas, PGA Tour Member Scott Langley, and Pro Hockey Star Ryan Getzlaf.
