(Irvine, CA - February 24, 2016) On Saturday, February 13, 2016, marathoner Amy Hastings Cragg punched her ticket to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games as she claimed the Women’s Championship at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in a time of 2:28:20. This victory comes as redemption for Cragg who finished a heartbreaking 4th place in the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials, barely missing a spot on the 2012 Olympic marathon team.

Known for her fierceness and determination across multiple distances, Cragg went on to dominate her competitors later in 2012 at the Track & Field Olympic Trials, obtaining the National Title (and her Olympic berth) in the 10,000m. The 10-time NCAA All-American from ASU also competed at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow in the 10,000m and holds a 2:27:03 Marathon personal best. Cragg recently moved to Portland, Oregon where she joined Coach Schumacher’s group, training alongside fellow Olympian Shalane Flanagan who placed 3rd on Saturday.

“Amy is one of the world’s best long distance runners,” said Bryan Smeltzer, General Manager for Zamst U.S. “She had something to prove at the trials and she successfully executed her plan to make the 2016 Olympic Team. We love working with Amy on supporting her injury prevention needs and look forward to seeing her continue to excel in her athletic career.”

Zamst and Cragg renewed their partnership earlier this year to help Cragg stay healthy and consistent in her training. “Over the years I have dealt with IT Band syndrome, Achilles Tendinitis and plantar fasciitis,” said Cragg. “The mobile compression + ice braces along with the AT-1 Achilles support product and the RK-1 IT Band support have helped me recover faster and keep training when injuries arise. Zamst has been a huge help with injury prevention and support!”

ZAMST has been supporting the run community for over 20 years and has a long heritage of providing solutions for run specific injuries and prevention needs. With a rich heritage in the medical field, the company has created its product line through a rigorous development process, which includes in-depth consultation with doctors, trainers and elite athletes to ensure high performance functionality. Zamst products are ideal for runners because they combine lightweight support, compression and circulation benefits while allowing for full range of motion.

Cragg now heads into the spring and summer Outdoor Track & Field before heading to Rio for the Olympic Games in August.
