KETCHUM, Idaho – The bike industry has been abuzz since Smith Optics announced in mid-August that they were entering the bike helmet market, with leading athletes and industry professionals waiting to get their hands on the new Forefront helmet at the Interbike 2013 Show held last week in Las Vegas.

After two days of testing at Outdoor Demo and additional hands-on tutorials on the show floor, many remarked that the Forefront was indeed an “industry game changer”. Within a sport where athletes pride themselves for being gear snobs, it’s a particular high accolade to be considered the “best new product launched this season,” as noted by several well-respected industry professionals.

The good folks at Outside Magazine and Gear Junkie couldn’t agree more, as both media outlets awarded the new Forefront helmet a ‘Best in Show’ title for Interbike 2013. Only five companies are presented the coveted title across all categories from Outside Magazine, while Gear Junkie presents twelve ‘Best of Interbike’ awards.

The new all-mountain Forefront helmet was created to provide all-mountain protection with road-race weight. The Aerocore™ construction of the Forefront allows riders ventilated protection as never before seen in a bicycle helmet. With up to a 30% improvement over standard EPS impact properties, the patented tubular core structure of the Koroyd® material combines with EPS to create a system of materials designed to surpass current standards at low and high speeds. Aerocore construction allows for ventilated protection, reduced weight, and reduced volume.

Smith bicycle helmets will be available at North American retailers in Spring 2014. For more information on the new Forefront, visit www.smithoptics.com/forefront.
