KEEN Hybrid.Pedal™ Concludes in Salt Lake on Utah Wilderness Day

Utah Governor Huntsman to Attend Celebration at Gallivan Center

Portland, OR – The final leg of the KEEN-sponsored Hybrid.Pedal 14-day ride rolls into Salt Lake City, Utah on Tuesday, August 7th. The final day of Hybrid.Pedal on August 7th is one of the most difficult days of the ride, covering 67 miles and 6,904 feet of total elevation gain. Riders participating Day 14 of the ride only will join the group for lunch at the East Canyon Lake Resort and together these Hybrid.Pedal participants will complete the ride to into Salt Lake City.

To celebrate the occasion and in honor of Utah Wilderness Day, Conservation Alliance grantee, SUWA (Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance), will host a party and reception for Hybrid.Pedal riders on August 7th, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Salt Lake City's Gallivan Center.

The event begins with an introduction by KEEN President Kirk Richardson of honored attendee Utah's Governor Huntsman. After his introduction, Governor Huntsman will welcome Hybrid.Pedal cyclists to Utah. The celebration will include food, drinks and a performance by Greg Brown, a virtuoso singer and songwriter who has a deep affinity for wild lands. SUWA is suggesting a $5 donation at the door (kids are free), which will also include entrance in their contest for door prizes.

“KEEN is proud to be a part of this event,” stated KEEN President Kirk Richardson. “We want to celebrate the accomplishments of the Hybrid.Pedal riders, the Conservation Alliance and the SUWA victories.”

KEEN is generating awareness and visibility for the Conservation Alliance and its grantees through Hybrid.Pedal this summer. The cycling fundraiser will kick off July 25th, in Portland, OR, riding through Oregon, Idaho and Utah before it concludes 14 days later on August 7th in Salt Lake City, UT, just before the August 2007 Outdoor Retailer show.

Hybrid.Pedal will be filmed, and highlights from the documentary will be shown at a KEEN event on August 10, 2007 at Squatters Pub in Salt Lake City, UT during Outdoor Retailer. The Hybrid.Pedal documentary will be released at select outdoor film festivals to continue to build the momentum generated by this ride.
