Darn Tough Donates 250 Pairs of Socks to Vermont Athletes

Northfield, Vermont (SNEWS) February 24, 2014 – Darn Tough Vermont, American manufacturer of the fastest growing collection of outdoor performance socks, has signed on as the official sock sponsor of Special Olympics Vermont’s 2014 Winter Games with a donation of 250 pairs of socks to Vermont athletes as they ski, ride and snowshoe their way to the finish line.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Darn Tough Vermont for the Winter Games. Not only do they make the best socks around, Darn Tough shares the same community values as Special Olympics Vermont. Their involvement in the Winter Games is a huge support as we continue to provide opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities that promote self-confidence and foster lasting relationships through athletics,” says President and CEO of Special Olympics Vermont, Lisa DeNatale.

A three-day annual competition, the Winter Games will be held at Suicide Six in Woodstock, Vermont and will feature alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. All Team Vermont athletes will be outfitted in a selection of Darn Tough Ski and Ride socks including the Padded Over-the-Calf Ultralight and Cushion, Edelweiss Over-the-Calf Cushion and Jr. Padded Over-the-Calf Cushion.

“The name Darn Tough isn’t just about our socks, it’s about who we are and what we stand for as a company. We’re invested in all aspects of our business, from our product to our employees to our community. We’re honored to work with Special Olympics Vermont, an organization that has impacted our community in such a positive way for over 40 years. Vermonters are a tough group of people and we look forward to supporting individuals who are just as darn tough as our socks,” explains Ric Cabot, President and CEO of Darn Tough Vermont.

The Opening Ceremony for Special Olympics Vermont’s 2014 Winter Games starts at 7:00pm on Friday, March 7 on the Woodstock Green with the competition taking place at Suicide Six from 9:00am-4:00pm on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9, 2014.
