San Francisco, Calif. (March 11, 2014)Brooks-Range Mountaineering Equipment Co., designer and manufacturer of high-quality backcountry equipment, releases its latest gear innovation, the minimalist-designed Tension Tents, expanding its backcountry shelter collection to offer everything from ultralight tarps to four season tents.

A unique pole system keeps Brooks-Range’s Tension Tents incredibly lightweight, stable, and durable. They feature a single carbon pole and two crossing poles for headroom that connect to an internal cord system that keeps them standing upright even through heavy winds and torrential rains. Fully seam taped and waterproof, with a no-drip vestibule entrance on the fly, the Tension Tents are designed for adventures in any conditions.

“We are very proud of the Tension Tent design,” said Jeff Blakely, General Manager for Brooks-Range. “The unique Tension pole and cord system allows for large amounts of interior space but keeps the tents very lightweight. They are perfect for backpackers and mountaineers who don’t want to compromise space, weight or performance.”

Intelligent engineering makes the Tension Tents lightweight and roomy. The Tension 30 offers 30 square feet of floor space and weighs less than 2.5 pounds, while the Tension 40, with 40 square feet of floor space, weighs just over 3 pounds. Two doors and two vestibules allow for an easy entrance and a protected place to store gear.

The Tension Tents are available on the Brooks-Range website and at retailers worldwide.
