The Backcountry Experienceexhibit will return to the 2014 SIA Snow Show (Jan. 30 – Feb. 2) for a third year with safety seminars, expert appearances, panel discussions and a happy hour. Featuring over 50 brands, the Backcountry Experience will offer up an interactive space for learning, sharing knowledge, discussions and socializing.

"As a member of SIA’s Backcountry Task Force, I know SIA is taking the lead in providing backcountry safety awareness resources, including the Backcountry Experience booth. It's an honor to partner with SIA and educate the industry in the revolution of terrain management to help skiers/boarders avoid avalanches and take their skills to a higher level through the Steep Life Protocols,” said Dean Cummings, Owner H2O Guide/H2O Outdoor Gear.

Whether splitboarding, alpine touring, skiing or hiking a boot pack, heading out-of-bounds is always a backcountry experience where knowledge and equipment are essential. Each day of the Snow Show, the Backcountry Experience will highlight important topics including Proper Route Finding, Gear Selection, Beacon Basics and Avalanche Warning Signs.

"As sales and use of backcountry products continues to rise, it's important to educate consumers as well as the shop kid on the retail floor about safety and avalanche awareness,” said Jeremy Jones of Jones Snowboards. “The Snow Show’s Backcountry Experience is a great place for this."

“This year we’ve further refined our speakers, we’ve added more panel discussions and the comprehensive collection of product is absolutely something you will only find at the SIA Snow Show,” said Dave Wray, SIA Western sales and marketing manager. “We are really elevating the level of the educational content and delivery by spreading a concise and fundamental safety and awareness message here. There’s no doubt that the category is growing within our marketplace and it’s our job to grow it responsibly by providing the right educational tools and resources for the entire marketplace all under one roof.”
