-Men's and Women's Senior Teams Grab Top Spots in The 10k at Snowbasin Resort, Prove Team Atlas is Fastest US Snowshoe Team-

Snowbasin, UT. (March 13, 2008) – The Atlas Racing Team dominated the US National Snowshoe Championships at Utah's Snowbasin Resort last weekend, with eight of the Racing Team's women and five of the men placing in the top 10 in the two heats. Of the top 15 in the men's heat, seven were competing for Atlas Racing. It was an impressive performance all around, and confirmed once again the Atlas Racing Team's claim to the title of fastest snowshoe team in the United States.

“I was overjoyed by the performance of the Atlas Team,” said team captain Adam Chase. “It looked like a swarm of bees out there, what with all the black and yellow Atlas jerseys up front on Sunday. Four of us had raced the XTERRA Winter World Championships the day before and Sarah McMahan had done (and won) the snowshoe dash for cash on Friday, so we weren't necessarily fresh for Sunday. That didn't seem to bother Keri Nelson, but I think it took a bit of a toll on Greg Krause and Ross McMahan. I was painfully aware that it did on me, especially when it came to running up the first hill on Sunday morning! “

Congratulations to all our racers, and keep up the good work!

The Atlas Racing Team trains and competes on nationally and internationally on Atlas Race and Run snowshoes:

Why run on icy, slushy pavement in the winter? Our Race and Run snowshoes are the perfect tools for running enthusiasts to stay fit and active when the trails are covered in snow. Driven by Spring-Loadedâ„¢ Suspension, the Race and Run stay close underfoot and allow a natural stride over uneven terrain, with frames optimized to maintain flotation while reducing contact. Lightweight strap bindings cinch tight with one pull, and flexible Nytex decking has the durability that winter demands. The Run uses strong, lightweight aluminum for the Twin-Tracâ„¢ toe crampon and heel cleat, and we pared down the weight on the Race with titanium toe and heel traction to give fitness enthusiasts and our own experts on the Atlas Racing Team a competitive edge.

Model Size Surface Area Weight (per pair) Load (lbs)
Race 22 in 134 sq in 2.08 lbs 75-190*
Run 22 in 134 sq in 2.71 lbs 75-190*

*up to 220 lbs on packed trails.

Dedication to the winter journey motivates Atlas to deliver the most technically advanced, high performance snowshoes available today. Atlas brought snowshoeing into the modern age by developing Spring-Loadedâ„¢ Suspension, the first snowshoe innovation in more than 40 years.
