LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (Nov. 12, 2014): Abominable Labs, LLC (ABOM) has been awarded a Best of What’s New 2014 award by Popular Science for the F-BOM goggle, the world’s first truly fog-free snowsports goggles, featuring patented KLAIR™ technology.

“We want to be noticed for good engineering and a quality product. Our goggles solve a problem all snowsports enthusiasts face,” states David McCulloch, Abominable Labs president. “We are honored to receive a Best of What’s New 2014 award by Popular Science for our F-BOM Goggle with KLAIR technology. This award affirms what we have been working towards for years.”

The F-BOM is powered by Abominable’s patented KLAIR™ technology. It works like the rear window in a car, and is also invisible and completely silent. A thin-film transparent heating system is placed in between the two-part lens and is powered by two small lithium-ion batteries. The heater works to keep the temperature just above dew point, which keeps fog away.

The F-BOM goggles feature a scratch-resistant, polycarbonate lens from Carl Zeiss to provide for clarity with zero distortions, as well as 100 percent protection from UVA, UVB and UVC rays. Using an innovative and intuitive system, the lens can be easily interchanged with red, yellow and dark tints for different light conditions.

Founded in 1872, Popular Science is the world’s largest science and technology magazine; with a circulation of 1.3 million and 6.8 million monthly readers. “For 27 years, Popular Science has honored the innovations that surprise and amaze us – those that make a positive impact on our world today and challenge our view of what’s possible in the future,” explains Cliff Ransom, editor-in-chief of Popular Science. “The Best of What’s New award is the magazine’s top honor, and the 100 winners – chosen from among thousands of entrants – each a revolution in it’s field.”
