SUNNYVALE, Calif. (July 11, 2009) – New discoveries inspire wisdom, insight, and a broader world view, and with 20 total pieces, White Sierra's Spring 2009 Earth Friendly Apparel Series is the perfect complement for adventures outside the norm.

Yushan National Park in Nantou, Taiwan, is known for its diverse wildlife and ecology, including waist-high dwarf arrow bamboo forests and the Taiwanese Macaque. In the spirit of honoring these places, White Sierra introduced the Ladies' Yushan Top & Taroko Tank – made from a 65% bamboo/cotton/spandex blend and the latest in White Sierra's bamboo performance offerings. White Sierra's bamboo is grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers and contains natural features like moisture management and antimicrobial properties to take you places ordinary clothing has not.

Whether you choose to walk the Lodato Loop or enjoy the Aiana Trail, White Sierra's café to trail collection of Daytrip apparel will keep you in style. New for Spring 2009, the Ladies' Hemp Tee is made from a 55% hemp/cotton blended fabric. Hemp fiber is stronger and more durable than cotton and since it uses less water and fertilizer is easier on the earth as well.

Summer is a great time to be outside but staying cool can be a challenge. Linen makes an appearance in White Sierra's line with the Linen Tunic, the Venice Short and the Newport Capri. All made with a highly wicking 55/45 Linen/Cotton blend, these pieces are perfect for summer cooling.

White Sierra hasn't forgotten earth-friendly apparel for the guys. White Sierra continues to use the highly wicking BamBam™ bamboo/poly fabric in the technical Bamboo Crew. –Featuring natural moisture management, anti–microbial properties and UPF protection. There's also a new 70% bamboo/cotton Bamboo Shirt with the highest bamboo content White Sierra has ever used. This ultra-soft shirt has natural anti-microbial properties and moisture management. The Bamboo Polo is a 70% bamboo/cotton polo pique knit.

Meanwhile, the Waimea Men's Tee is a new 55% hemp/cotton tee with the long lasting and durable properties of hemp fiber.

Another style of interest is the all new Yellowstone Men's Pant, a cotton rip-stop variant of the hugely popular zip off pant with an extra long 11” short inseam. Look for an expanded offering of woven shirts as well with the wicking performance of the plaid Grant's Pass and the dressed up look of the updated Ombre stripe found in the Kalbarri shirt.

White Sierra (booth 21031) will be holding a membership drive for American Hiking Society August 8, at the Summer Outdoor Retailer Show. Starting at 1:00 PM, this event will feature product giveaways for those who sign up for a membership with American Hiking Society.
