Lynnwood, WA. – As SOG® Specialty Knives and Tools celebrates its 30th anniversary year in 2016, they add to their award-winning line of multi-tools with three new offerings that range from the do-anything PowerPlay to the agile Reactor to the fierce little MACV Tool that harkens to the company’s lineage.

The new tools strengthen SOG’s multi-tool line that turned heads last year with the addition of the SwitchPlier, an affordable, one-handed workhorse that launched a new legion of SOG fans.

“We’re fortunate to have designers who wanted to apply their creativity and engineering skills to our multi-tool line in 2016,” said Chris Cashbaugh, Marketing Director for SOG. “We now have a multi-tool for virtually all users - from anglers to artists to carpenters and caddies and everybody in between.”

Here’s a more detailed look at the 2016 multi-tools.

PowerPlay Multi-Tool: Compact, comfortable, and feature-rich, the PowerPlay packs the most often used tools into a smaller, pocketable package. Equipped with pliers powered by SOG’s Compound Leverage, the PowerPlay also includes a straight edge and a fully serrated, assisted-opening blade that can be deployed single-handedly without opening the tool. When the tool is closed, the top has a centered hex bit driver that’s convenient and comfortable to use while minimizing chances of stripped screw heads. All told, it houses 18 tool components. Sheath options include a molded GRN sheath or nylon sheath with 12 piece hex bit and 1/4” driver accessory. MSRP $77-$89

Reactor Multi-Tool: Housing a total of 10 components including a hardcased black coated stainless steel assisted blade and powerful Compound Leverage geared pliers, the nimble Reactor combines a great folding knife with fully functional pliers. A quick push of the thumb stud propels the hardcased black coated blade open and ready for action. Weighing in at just 4.1 ounces, the Reactor’s ergonomic shape fits firmly and securely in a hand. Tucking the blade back in and flipping the handle gives easy access to the pliers. MSRP $64

MACV Tool: Whether you need to open a bottle, tighten a screw or nut, pry out a staple, cut fishing line, or sharpen up a blade on the go, the MacV Tool has what you need in the coolest looking manner. Designed to resemble the original skull from the MACV-SOG group from which the company takes its name, the MACV Tool is a versatile everyday carry keychain tool that will prove handy in a whole host of situations. MSRP $13

The new tools are scheduled to hit retailers shelves in early March 2016, just in time to assist with spring projects and the advent of outdoor activities. New products can also be ordered on SOG’s web site (www.sogknives.com).
