SmartWool Named to Outside Magazine’s Best Places To Work List for Sixth Consecutive Year

Steamboat Springs, Colo – For the sixth consecutive year, SmartWool LLC is listed as one of Outside Magazine’s top 100 “Best Places to Work” in the United States.

“Being named to this list six years in a row is an amazing honor,” says Mark Satkiewicz, president of SmartWool. “Most of all, however, it’s a reflection of an incredible employee base that is empowered to create a rewarding workplace.”

Outside Magazine’s annual Best Places to Work list recognizes American companies that foster a positive work-life balance, encourage an active lifestyle, and give back to the communities in which they do business.

To this end, SmartWool maintains four employee-managed teams – SmartChange, Service, Advocacy, and Sustainability – that help manifest the company’s overall goal of affecting positive change through a commitment to corporate social responsibility.

SmartChange defines, promotes, and fosters global SmartWool culture, values, and integrity. The Service team works to engage employees in meaningful community service opportunities. SmartWool’s Advocacy committee is charged with defining how the company gives back—distributing over $1.3MM to various causes and organizations since 2006. The Sustainability group focuses on commercial responsibility by researching and implementing processes that reduce SmartWool’s environmental impact in the supply chain as well as in day-to-day business practices.

Outside’s Best Places to Work list is created in association with the Best Companies Group and the Outdoor Industry Association. These organizations undertake a yearlong process to evaluate and rank a wide variety of for-profit and non-profit businesses through confidential employee surveys regarding overall job satisfaction, benefits, compensation, community outreach programs, and environmental policies.
