Boulder, Colo., and Salt Lake City, Utah, July 21, 2009 – Sea to Summit, Inc., is adding Insect Shield® technology to a number of new and improved products launched at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City. Each item is featured with and without EPA-registered Insect Shield® permethrin treatment: the single-sized Coolmax® Bag Adaptor, Mosquito Head Nets, single and double-sized Mosquito “Pyramid” Net Shelters, and new single and double-sized Mosquito “Box” Net Shelters. In addition, a new Bug Wear Suit, offered in four sizes and two parts (upper body coverage Bug Jacket and Mitts; lower body coverage Bug Pants and Socks) is designed with ultra-fine No-See-Um mesh treated with Insect Shield’s permethrin to offer added protection from annoying and potentially dangerous insects.

“Sea to Summit chose Insect Shield’s permethrin treatment because it offered proven effectiveness based on years of research and field studies,” said Andrew Dunbar, co-owner of Sea to Summit, Inc.

Permethrin is a man-made/synthetic version of a natural insect repellent found in a certain type of chrysanthemum plant. Permethrin is proven to repel mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges (no-see-ums), including species that can carry Lyme disease, West Nile virus and other diseases. Insect Shield® protection is invisible, odorless, does not change the feel of the garment and lasts through 70 launderings – the expected life of a garment; Insect Shield® gear repellent lasts for 25 launderings.

All products have the same MSRP in the U.S. and Canada; contact Sea to Summit for availability from now through March 2010. Products without InsectShield® will be available in Canada. For updates on InsectShield® product availability in Canada, contact Janine Robertson.
