RockyMounts Announces New Fork-Mount Racks for Thru-Axle Bikes
Range of versatile solutions for car, truck and home storage now available to accommodate popular thru-axle sizes
BOULDER, Colo. - Feb. 16, 2016 - RockyMounts announces the launch of three thru-axle compatible fork-mount solutions for car, truck and home storage. Traditionally limited to hitch mount and upright carriers, the new SwitchHitter rack, HotRod mount and StreetRod adaptor offer owners of the most popular thru-axle formats the ability to fork-mount their bikes in a variety of applications.
"It's tough to beat the secure hold and peace-of-mind a fork-mount rack provides," said RockyMounts President Bruno Maier. "Even with all the innovative ways to transport bikes we've developed, many enthusiasts still prefer to fork-mount their bikes. While the growth and variety of thru-axle sizes has been great for bikes, it's limited the rack choices for their owners. We're stoked to offer thru-axle riders new fork-mount options with our SwtichHitter Rack, HotRod truck mounts, and StreetRod thru-axle adapter."
Sleek enough for discriminating roadies and tough enough for any mountain biker, the SwitchHitter is a new roof rack that resembles a traditional fork-mount rack with the added ability to accommodate bikes with a variety of styles and sizes of thru-axle systems. The versatile rack arrives ready for standard 9mm quick release forks and includes three easily interchangeable 12x100, 15x100 and "Boost 110" (15x110) sized axles.
The SwitchHitter's universal fit installs on round, square and most factory cross bars and includes a kit for T-slot mounting on Euro-style bars. The rack follows RockyMounts' design principles on aerodynamics and fuel efficiency with its low-profile shape. Security is also a priority with the new rack, which comes with an integrated cable lock for the bike and the ability to lock the rack to the crossbars. The SwitchHitter is available in eight different colors, and has an MSRP of $189.95.
The StreetRod gives owners of standard 9mm fork-mount racks the ability to carry thru-axle bikes. Made of tough, non-corrosive 6063 aluminum and available in a range of six anodized colors, the new adaptor easily attaches to fork-mount racks from any manufacturer. The StreetRod ships with three axles to accommodate bikes with 12x100, 15x100 and "Boost 110" (15x110) sized axles. MSRP is $49.95.
The HotRod is a new bolt-on truck and home storage mount for
bikes with thru-axles with an MSRP of $49.95 USD. Three interchangeable axles are included to accommodate bikes with 12x100, 15x100 and "Boost 110" (15x110) sizes. The strong 6063 aluminum mount can also be converted to work with standard 9mm quick-release bikes with an optional kit, sold separately for $19.95, and is available in six anodized colors.
A HotRod Track Hardware Kit is also available for attaching to original equipment channels found in Toyota, Nissan, Chevrolet, and GMC truck beds and aftermarket Unistrut channels (MSRP $19.95).
Not wanting to leave 9mm forks out in the cold, RockyMounts is also introducing a line of traditional quick release fork mounts. The LoBall line consists of three different products for trucks, trailers, vans and home storage. All three models are made of powder-coated 6063 aluminum bases with chromoly quick releases. The LoBall ($24.95 USD) is non-locking, the LoBall Locking ($49.95) features a robust keyed locking quick release, and the LoBall Track ($69.95) is a locking fork mount compatible with original equipment Toyota, Nissan, Chevrolet, and GMC truck bed channels and aftermarket Unistrut channels.
All four products will be available in March 2016. North American retailers can order directly from RockyMounts or from a select group of distributors that includes QBP, BTI, Hans Johnsen, Downeast Bicycle Specialists, and J&B Importers. The company's products are also available from distributors in Australia, Korea, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines.
