SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Aspiring to attract engaged consumers from America’s vibrant outdoor industry, more than a dozen companies making cutting-edge smartphone accessories will band together to promote their goods at next month’s Outdoor Retailer Summer Market trade show.
The companies – manufacturing items as varied as Bluetooth speakers, protective & waterproof cases, action cams, headphones, and solar chargers – will staff the newly created “Tech Zone” at the Outdoor Retailer Show being held Aug. 6-9 at the Salt Palace. The Tech Zone, sponsored by Summit Distribution / Adventure 16 Wholesale, will be located in the center of the Technology Pavilion Tent 3, in booth PV3143.
The Tech Zone is organized by outdoor industry veteran Larry Locks, CEO of Summit Distribution and Adventure 16 Wholesale. The zone will provide outdoor retailers new product ideas for their customers who are integrating smartphones into their favorite outdoor pursuits.
“The ‘recreation tech’ market is booming, ” said Locks. “We’re out there taking pictures, checking tide charts, reserving campgrounds, navigating waterways and hiking trails, shooting video, gazing at stars – you name it. The lineup of companies we have at the Tech Zone will allow retailers to offer a full mobile tech center in their stores to allow their customers the ability to outfit their smartphone for its next adventure.”
As a way to entice shop owners and buyers to visit the manufacturing representatives in the Tech Zone, a unique “passport program” will be used daily to reward booth visitors with a wide variety of prizes, from kayaks and outdoor gear to the latest phone accessories.
The Tech Zone companies are: Boom Movement speakers and headphones, Element Case, Loksak waterproof cases, mophie chargers, Sony Action Cam, Thule cases, Olloclip lenses, Pong cases, PureGear cases, Secur emergency tools, StrongVolt Solar chargers, X-1 headphones and cases, and zNitro screen protection.
