Madshus Announces Launch of New Race Performance and Backcountry Ski Boots

SEATTLE, Wash. (Jan. 21, 2011)Madshus, the world’s oldest ski company, announces the launch of its new Race Performance and Backcountry ski boots at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2011, booth #36118. Five years after the launch of its boots on the World Cup circuit, the partnership between Madshus engineers and racing team athletes continues to drive innovation in boot technology from the top racers to touring skiers.

Designed from the ground-up to transfer power efficiently, Madshus boots use innovative hybrid and full MemBrain® softshell constructions to ensure breathability and water-resistance for warmth and comfort. The flexible softshell constructions also provide excellent fit, molding to the diverse contours of the foot. As the company presents new 2011 designs, Madshus continues to develop exceptional boot constructions that are entirely PVC-free, maintaining their commitment to lessening environmental impact while pioneering new standards of fit and feel. New PVC-Free Race Performance Boots: The new Hyper C, Hyper U, Metis C, and Metis U boots feature a redesigned upper profile for a more flexible, relaxed boot. Built with PVC-Free softshell MemBrain®, the Hyper and Metis boots provide competitive skiers with a comfortable, supple, forefoot flex, all in value-oriented Race Performance boots.

All-New PVC-Free Backcountry Boots: For backcountry touring, the new Glittertind BC and Vidda BC provide security and support when traveling off the groomed track. Featuring waterproof, breathable booties and Thinsulate™ to keep feet warm and dry. The new BC boots are built on NNN BC outsole perfect for skiers exploring in untracked snow.

Glittertind BC Boot: Featuring a hinged cuff for extra edge control, and lightweight, supportive PVC-free upper, the Glittertind’s carries race-inspired construction with backcountry-engineered support, flex, and secure heel hold for climbing. The waterproof, breathable bootie, Thinsulate™ and MemBrain® softshell lace cover provide warm, dry comfort. The printed PU rand provides abrasion-resistance with minimal weight. For reduced impact, the TPU toe and heel caps for durable protection are made using 75% reduced-solvent manufacturing techniques.

Vidda BC Boot: Engineered to be lightweight and easy-flexing, with a stitched-on cuff for security and support. The waterproof, breathable bootie and Thinsulate™ combine to keep feet warm, dry and comfortable. The Vidda BC combines environmentally-friendly materials including waterproof Lite™ Leather, produced with 35% reduced CO2 emissions and 50% reduced water consumption, as well as abrasion-resistant TPU made using 75% reduced solvents.
