Organic skin care brand launches new website to mark its 10 year anniversary

PINCKNEY, Mich. (April 25, 2011)—Joshua Tree Skin Care (JTree), maker of organic and natural products designed to support an active outdoor lifestyle, kicked off 10 Years of Healing Hands, its 10-year anniversary celebration on Earth Day, Friday, April 22, 2011. The JTree brand launched with its cornerstone product, JTree Healing Salve, in April 2001 in a small town outside of Joshua Tree National Park. Since then, its line has grown to include lip balm and sunscreen products. In 2008, JTree expanded its line of lip balms by introducing Desert Shimmers, a collection of tinted lip balms, as well as introducing Winter Stick with SPF 15, its first sunscreen product developed for faces. Due to the popularity of the freeze-resistant Winter Stick, the following year JTree added Sun Stick with SPF 33 to its product line.

“JTree quickly established itself catering to the climbing market, though our products attracted other active and outdoor user groups who are also discriminating about the ingredients in the products they use,” says David Lawrence, Joshua Tree Skin Care’s president and CEO.

Since Lawrence acquired the brand in 2007, JTree’s retail distribution has increased by over 85 percent. JTree has also created successful partnerships through private label deals with other outdoor industry brands like Mountain Gear, Osprey and Sterling Ropes. The slim fit tube design of JTree lip balms makes it ideal for logo placement and the delivery of special event or brand messages.

As part of the 10-year anniversary celebration, JTree’s Climbing Rocks contest kicked off on Facebook starting April 22 and runs through April 29. Fans can post their favorite rock-climbing photos on the brand’s Facebook page and can then be entered to win prizes, including the new GriGri2 from Petzl.

Also starting on Friday, April 22, shoppers who spend at least $25 on receive a limited edition 10 Years of Healing Hands t-shirt. Other promotions will be announced on the brand’s website and social media networks in the weeks ahead.

JTree is also planning a special anniversary celebration at its booth during the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, held in Salt Lake City August 4 – 7, 2011.
