GU today announced the release of three new flavor additions to its Energy Chews, Energy Gel, and Roctane Energy Gel product lines. Salted Caramel Apple debuts as a new flavor for GU Energy Chews, joining Blueberry Pomegranate, Strawberry, Watermelon, Orange and Raspberry. Salted Caramel Apple Energy Chews provide 90 calories per packet and feature 450mg amino acids to reduce mental fatigue and decrease muscle damage, 100mg of sodium to aid in hydration by maintaining water balance and 20mg of caffeine to increase focus.

Maple Bacon is the most-anticipated new offering in the line of GU Energy Gels, offering a savory option to the original energy gel category. Each packet yields 450mg of amino acids, 100 mg of sodium, 20mg of caffeine and 100 calories from a combination of multiple carbohydrates to help maximize absorption and utilization while diminishing stomach distress.

Vanilla spiced lattes might get you going during your coffee break, but the Vanilla Spice GU Roctane Energy Gel will keep you going during your most demanding training sessions and races. The new Vanilla Spice flavor boasts all of the benefits of Roctane Energy Gel, which is specifically formulated to satisfy athletes’ needs during high-intensity and long-duration activities. This new flavor includes 1425mg of amino acids, 125mg of sodium, 35mg of caffeine and 100 calories of carbohydrates to keep you fueled and delay bonking by sparing your glycogen stores.

Magdalena Boulet, recent winner of the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run and an Olympic Marathoner, who is also GU Energy Lab’s Vice President of Research, Development and Innovation, said, “We continually develop new flavor profiles for all of our product categories based on consumer feedback and testing with our pro and sponsored athletes. These new flavors taste great and will help athletes stave off flavor fatigue during their most demanding workouts.”
