Carve Designs, manufacturer of technical water sport, apres surf and lifestyle apparel for women, has retained Backbone Media of Carbondale, Colorado to handle its public relations efforts.

Carve Designs, located in Mill Valley, CA was born in 2003, when co-founders and female surfers Jennifer Hinton and Thayer Sylvester returned from a trip to Mexico, frustrated by the lack of proper fitting women's surf apparel on the market. Now at the end of its fifth year, Carve Designs continues to focus on creating year-round apparel that is functional, feminine and flattering.

“Backbone has an established presence in action sports, outdoor and the broader consumer markets, and their ability to execute creative and progressive media plans syncs up with our goals to build our brand identity moving forward,” Katie Barbatsuly, Carve Designs Marketing Director stated.

Carve plays an active role in the female water sports community by sponsoring a team of surf and kayak ambassadors as well as partnering with organizations such as the Surfrider Foundation and Save the Waves. Carve also makes it a priority to use organic cottons and sustainable fabrics when possible in each collection.

"Carve Designs is a refreshing brand with both tight focus and broad based appeal,” comments Penn Newhard from Backbone. “The personality of the line matches up perfectly with Backbone's expertise, contrasting some of the more technical outdoor lines while complementing some of our surf-inspired lifestyle clients."

As shown on the Carve website “Inspiration” page, the company draws creativity from all aspects of the active lifestyle. Whether it be longboarding at sunset, paddling out to a break at dawn, or dropping the knee in some fresh Tahoe powder, Carve apparel is made for women who aren't afraid to enjoy all that the outdoors have to offer.

Carve Designs will be showing the 2009 fall/winter collection at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in January.
