Backcountry Magazine launches Gear Guide with bigger, revamped layout

Jeffersonville, VT (for immediate release) -Backcountry Magazine’s annual Gear Guide hits newsstands August 27th with a new, redesigned format to highlight the industry’s most unbiased reviews available. The September Gear Guide is the best source for backcountry skiing and riding gear reviews, with more than 115 products highlighted including a select 31 Editors’ Choice winners.

“Our Gear Guide is the best in the business,” says Associate Editor Taylor VanRoekel. “Last March, our test crew put more than 500 skis, boots, bindings and boards through the wringer, and we narrowed that fleet down to the absolute best.”

Additionally, Backcountry Magazine grew in size and is now a coffee-table-worthy 9” by 10.875”, adopting a style and layout consistent with Kronicle and Alpinist, the other print titles under Height of Land Publications’ roof.

“Not that our original size sucked or anything,” says Backcountry Art Director Mike Lorenz. “We just took a look at the other publications in our suite, like Alpinist and Kronicle, and decided that we wanted Backcountry to be on the coffee table alongside those mags and not next to the toilet.”

Check out the new layout, plus all the reviews and Editors’ Choice winners in Backcountry’s September Gear Guide, which hits newsstands August 27. Or subscribe today at backcountrymagazine.com/subscribe.
