Backcountry Magazine’s December Issue is THE LARGEST EVER

Publish date:

Jeffersonville, VT (for immediate release) – The snow is starting to fall at higher elevations, and Backcountry Magazine’s Photo Annual and Apparel Guide is set to hit newsstands and mailboxes soon. But this year, the industry’s leading backcountry ski and snowboard publication has done a few things differently.

The December issue is Backcountry Magazine’s largest issue ever, totaling a whopping 164 pages. So, to celebrate, BCM has created a special-edition, gatefold cover available exclusively for subscribers.

The cover features young-gun Jake Teuton dumping backlit powder into the Selkirk Mountain’s evening sky. “I always love a chance to shoot backlit snow, and Jake nailed this shot, blowing it up and breaking through in the perfect spot,” says Bruno Long, who shot the photo.

“The subscriber cover is clean and devoid of the usual annoying cover lines, so people can really, fully appreciate the shot,” says Alden Pellett, Backcountry Magazine photo editor. “The cover photo has really cool blue and black contrast, so we decided to do it justice by cutting out a lot of the text and cover lines.”

Readers are encouraged to subscribe by November 24 to receive the alternative cover, and current subscribers will receive this limited edition automatically. The cover photo will be available on the web later this week.

Also in the December issue, Backcountry Magazine puts a new spin on the annual Apparel Guide, reviewing editors’ old, time-tested gear and the latest in products and trends. Plus, the 24-page Photo Annual features this year’s best backcountry images, and a crew explores Slovakia’s old-world High Tatra Mountains.
