Easley, S.C. – Team Wave Sport finishes the 2010 season strong, with several of the athletes racking up big wins both domestically and internationally.

Just days ago, Wave Sport athlete, Kelsey Thompson paddled the Wave Sport Project 52 to victory at the Canadian Freestyle Team Trials. Not only did he succeed in making the team, but he also won the Men's Open K1 Final and was crowned the 2010 Canadian National Champion.

Bryan Kirk and Haley Mills, both paddling Wave Sport Projects, were named the 2010 US National Freestyle Champions after a series of five events this summer. The final event in Missoula, Montana served as the US Team Trials, where both teammates qualified for the 2011 Freestyle Kayaking World Championships, which will be held June 15-19, 2011.

“As a member of the USA Freestyle Committee, it was great to see our work in setting up the 2010 national point series finally come to fruition,” said Team Manager, Bryan Kirk. “Taking the top spot for this year's Nationals was the icing on the cake after a long, amazing season of events. This was a major confidence booster heading into the 2011 season; I am fired up to paddle the new Wave Sport Project X at the 2011 Freestyle World Championships,” he added.

Paddling the Wave Sport Project 52, teammate Tyler Curtis walked away with a huge win on August 15th at the Norwegian Championships, which was also the team selection for the 2011 World Championships. Tyler additionally claimed the title of ‘Nordic Champion' for the second year in a row at the 2010 Nordic Championships. Here, athletes from Norway, Sweden and Finland took part in a freestyle event to showcase the best in Scandinavian Freestyle.

“As the Team Manager, I couldn't be happier with how Team Wave Sport performed this year,” said Kirk. “This extraordinary group of paddlers completed expeditions in exotic locations, raised awareness of rivers at risk from mining, won multiple national championships, and continued to be excellent representatives for Wave Sport and whitewater kayaking.”
