Boulder, Colorado (August 14, 2018) – Ultimate Direction (UD), manufacturer of hydration products and accessories for runners, was the first company ever to offer a women’s-specific pack. This year UD released the Signature Series 4.0 women’s Vestas in a 20-percent lighter design. A new fit technology called Comfort Cinch gives women more adjustability than ever before.
Ultimate Direction’s improvements to women’s vest design in the Signature Series 4.0 Vestas have made an immediate impact. UD’s women’s ambassador team is showing the high performance of the Signature Series 4.0 Vestas at races and fastest known time (FKT) projects around the world.
Kilian Jornet’s Tromso Skyrace, part of the International Skyrunner World Series, was the site of a near career-ending injury for Ultimate Direction and The North Face ambassador Hillary Allen. Allen’s return to racing this season has been a triumph: she was second at Broken Arrow Skyrace in June and first at Italy’s Lavarado Trail in July. Most recently UD ambassador Hillary Gerardi won the Tromso Skyrace and set a new course record. Both Americans’ victories have been with the Signature Series 4.0 Ultra Vesta.
Krissy Moehl, an icon of women’s ultrarunning, won the 100 mile Gaoligong Ultramarathon in March wearing the Signature Series 4.0 Adventure Vesta. Moehl wore the same vesta this year to complete a project called “Backdoor to Baker,” a run and alpine climb from her home in Bellingham, Wash. to the summit of Mount Baker.
“I’ve been involved with Ultimate Direction’s women’s product design since the first ‘vesta’ was created by Jenny Jurek,” said Moehl. “The 4.0 Adventure Vesta has been my committed companion all season long.”
