Ultimate Direction’s Buzz Burrell Leads FKT Momentum

“Fastest Known Times” See Mainstream Interest
Publish date:

Boulder, CO (April 25, 2018) – Ultimate Direction Brand Vice President Buzz Burrell, the holder of many fastest known time (FKT) records, is at the center of a wave of recognition for FKTs. Athletes all over the world are maximizing their skills and creativity on trails and mountains and doing it with record-setting ambitions.

Publications like The Washington Post, Trail Runner’s DIRT, Gear Junkie and Outside have reported on the groundswell of FKTs and Burrell and longtime friend, partner, and Ultimate Direction Signature Series athlete, Peter Bakwin, have been highlighted in the coverage. A new website tracking FKTs around the world recently launched: fastestknowntime.com.

“Peter has been the record keeper of FKTs for over a decade,” Burrell said. “His site had been getting more users and traffic and had outgrown itself. We created a more powerful way to showcase the movement.”

Apparently the world was ready for FKTs to go to another level.

“One of the first submissions to the new fastestknowntime.com site was from a guy named Kilian. You might have heard of him?” Kilian Jornet, Jason Schlarb, Dylan Bowman, Joe Grant, John Kelly and many more athletes have added high profile FKTs to the site already in 2018.

Ultimate Direction recently celebrated ambassador Scott Jurek’s 2015 FKT on the Appalachian Trail with the creation of the North Vest and the North Roll, two special edition Ultimate Direction products for sale now. North, the title of Jurek’s new book, details his FKT (now broken).
