UCO Launches #TrashTag Project to Keep Nature Beautiful

Since 1971, heritage lighting brand, UCO, has been making gear to help people enjoy the great outdoors. To keep nature beautiful for everyone to enjoy for decades to come, UCO has launched the UCO #TrashTag Project. The project is a movement that encourages fans and the general public to commit to picking up after ourselves and one another in the wilderness. UCO has pledged a collective goal of picking up 10,000 pieces of trash by October 2016.

The UCO #TrashTag Project was conceived by UCO People ambassador, Steven Reinhold, during a period of guilt after his receipt from a self-indulgent shopping spree flew out the window.Haunted by this inadvertent littering episode, Reinhold vowed to gather 100 pieces of trash during his road trip – and he did. Returning home from his adventure, Reinhold pitched an expansion of his vision to the UCO team, and the movement began.

“We’ve all been out on a breathtaking trail or a scenic river and had a view dampened by a piece of trash,” said Industrial Revolution President Graeme Esarey. “When we heard about Stephen’s #TrashTag idea, I knew that this was something we could all get behind. I hope others will join us as we attempt to make a difference, one #TrashTag at a time.”

The project will be fueled by individuals using #TrashTag on social media platforms, in order to encourage others to act. This project aligns with the company’s efforts to get people connecting outdoors while respecting our planet. Through the UCO #TrashTag Project, UCO is looking forward to supporting individuals that inspire responsible conservation acts as a way towards building strong communities and creative environmental actions.
