(May 11, 2011) – SEATTLE, Wash. - Tubbs® Snowshoes announced today the incredible success of its 2011 TubbsRomptoStompOutBreastCancerSnowshoeSeries®, with Romp to Stomp events once again surpassing all growth and fundraising expectations. The 2011 series increased participation by 23 percent over 2010 levels and raised over $450,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Since its inception in 2003, Tubbs Romp to Stomp has raised more than $1.7 million for breast cancer awareness, education and research. The Series has continued to grow each year at an astonishing rate, with seven events annually in the U.S. and Canada, including locations in Colorado, New Jersey, Ontario, Oregon, Utah, Vermont and Washington. Selling out at three of those events (Colorado, Oregon and Utah), the total member base has grown to nearly 30,000 participants since its inception.
“We continue to see amazing growth each year and cannot thank participants enough for their fundraising to help stomp out breast cancer,” said Wendy Miller, event manager, Tubbs Romp to Stomp.
“Thanks to sponsors we were able to give away thousands of dollars in prizes, including the Limited Edition Pink Romp to Stomp Snowshoes from Tubbs, which were a big hit.”
The series of family-friendly events attracts all levels of snowshoers from young to old. This year, 25 percent of participants were first time snowshoers, with439 Lil Romper participants. The Lil Romper program offers a special discounted registration rate for children 12-years-old and under.
Thanks to thousands of breast cancer survivors and supporters, 2011 was Tubbs Romp to Stomp Snowshoe Series’ most successful season. 2012 marks the series’ 10th anniversary; event locations and dates will be announced this summer.
