Denver, Colo. – Three years ago, SOLE, manufacturer of orthopedic footbeds, socks and sandals, joined forces with Ed Viesturs to develop a cause marketing program to raise money for Big City Mountaineers (BCM), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to enhance the lives of under-resourced urban teens through transformative outdoor experiences. To date, SOLE’s fundraising efforts have raised $75,000, helping to send approximately 150 inner city teenagers on weeklong wildnerness expeditions with mentors.
SOLE’s contributions to Big City Mountaineers are the result of an ongoing charitable giveback program that encourages health and fitness for the youth of America; for every Signature EV Ultra footbed sold, SOLE donates $1 to Big City Mountaineers. In 2010, funds raised through this collaboration will take teens from Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, Oakland, Portland and Seattle on weeklong wilderness expeditions focused on personal growth.
“By using the outdoors as our classroom, our guided trips allow teens to leave their urban pressures behind and explore life issues with adult mentors. It’s incredible seeing how our teens open up when they’re away from their usual city threats,” says BCM marketing manager Hillary Harding. “SOLE is one of our top fundraisers and this program is a great example of how a brand with a compelling product and strong social consciousness can align with a nonprofit to make a significant, positive impact in the lives of under-resourced youth.”
SOLE launched its line of supportive, do-it-yourself, heat moldable footbeds in 2001. Millions of happy feet later, SOLE extended its expertise in foot health and comfort to a line of Premium Performance Socks. In 2008, SOLE launched its Platinum Sandal, which offers unrivaled orthopedic support and comfort. REI, Red Wing Shoes, Zappos.com and thousands of specialty retailers around the world carry SOLE. SOLE products are used by dozens of professional teams in the NFL, NBA and MLB as well as the US and Canadian Military. For more information on SOLE, go to www.yoursole.com or call 866-235-SOLE.
