January 5th, 2021 - Broomfield, CO - Since the Reach Out giveback campaign’s launch in 2020, Sierra Designs has donated over $15,000 to nonprofits dedicated to improving economic, societal and educational access for underrepresented groups in the outdoors. Continuing its commitment to accessibility, participation and inclusivity in outdoor recreation, Sierra Designs proudly announces Blackpackers, Outdoors for All, Venture Out Project, and WildKind Closet as Reach Out partners for 2021.
In addition to donating 1% of all web sales and $2,000 worth of gear per quarter, Sierra Designs pledges to provide education, event support, and a customizable awareness campaign for each participating partner. Using the brand’s platform, Sierra Designs will broadcast each organization’s mission via social media, email newsletters, and an exclusive partnership with She Explores Podcast. “2020 was a tough, weird year for all of us, but one of the bright spots for our team was the launch and success of Reach Out,” notes Sierra Designs’ Marketing Manager Zoe Lanterman. “This project allowed us to offer financial support and countless gear donations to community partners who are dedicated to making the outdoors more accessible for all. We are looking forward to continuing our commitment to this mission and are excited to highlight our chosen partners for 2021,” she adds.
Mirroring Sierra Designs’ mission to make the outdoors more attainable for all, each chosen partner aims to diminish the barriers to participation—such as cost of gear, education, and lack of community. Founded by Patricia Cameron, Blackpackers seeks to create economic equity in outdoor recreation by providing gear, outdoor excursions and outdoor education for free or at a subsidized cost, as well as connect participants with volunteer opportunities, internships, jobs, and post-secondary education resources. Founded in the Pacific Northwest, Outdoors For All’s mission is to enrich the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through outdoor education. Bringing the queer community together to experience the beauty and fun of the wilderness, Venture Out Project is committed to facilitating backpacking and backcountry trips for the queer and trans community in a safe and inclusive environment. Through their free and low-cost seasonal gear loaner library, WildKind Closet aims to minimize the barrier to entry in the outdoors by providing access to quality gear. By providing families with loaner items like tents and kid carriers, WildKind Closet allows families to build outdoor memories with their children without the accompanying financial challenges.
Throughout 2021, Sierra Designs will also provide gear donations to several other likeminded nonprofits committed to achieving a more equitable outdoors. For more information regarding Sierra Designs and Reach Out, contact Katie Richter at email@example.com
