SnowSports Industries America (SIA), the snow sports industry’s member-owned trade association, has released its initial plans for the 2014 Nordic Demo including on-site educational seminars, hosted industry gatherings and product testing during the two-day Nordic-specific event--all part of the On-Snow Demo/Ski-Ride Fest at Copper Mountain Resort (Feb. 3-4). The On-Snow Demo will follow the 2014 SIA Snow Show (Jan. 30-Feb. 2) held at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver.
This year’s Nordic Demo, held for the first time at the same location and for the same days as the On-Snow Demo, will feature more equipment, brands, models and sizes than any other demo in the country. Companies exhibiting at the Nordic Demo include Alpina Sports Corp, Atomic USA Inc., Fischer Skis US, Madshus, Rossignol, Salomon USA and Swix Sport USA, Inc.
“We’re excited for the trail system Copper is creating specifically for this year’s Nordic Demo. The course will feature many designated short test loops with varied terrain, which is a great for comparing products,” commented SIA’s Nordic Director Reese Brown.

The seminars are 25 minutes each with a 5-minute Q & A and cover simple but effective techniques for small and mid-sized retailers and resorts. The series kicks off with a Nordic market trends update from Kelly Davis, SIA director of research, on February 2 at 6:30 p.m. Other seminars are scheduled for February 3 at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and February 4 at 8:30 a.m., topics to be announced.
“The SIA Nordic Demo is a phenomenal event. I really can’t understand why every Nordic retailer in the country doesn’t attend,” commented Gene Dayton, Frisco Nordic Centers, Breckenridge, Colo.
