San Juan Mountain Guides Under New Ownership

After eight years of ownership by Clint and Ryan Cook, of Ouray, Colo., San Juan Mountain Guides, the concessionaire of the Ouray Ice Park, has been purchased by Nate Disser.

Ouray, Colo. (April 19, 2012)- After eight years of ownership by Clint and Ryan Cook, of Ouray, Colo., San Juan Mountain Guides, the concessionaire of the Ouray Ice Park, has been purchased by Nate Disser.Nate is also the owner of Southwest Adventure Guides operating out of Durango, Colo. The business acquisition will operate both adventure guiding businesses under one title, San Juan Mountain Guides.

San Juan Mountain Guides has been the concessionaire of the Ouray Ice Park for the last 17 years and Nate is the third owner.The Ouray Ice Park is a world-class ice climbing destination and the new ownership hopes to continue the tradition of excellence in ice climbing instruction and guiding, while also increasing program scope and operations throughout the San Juan Mountains.

“I am excited to become more involved in the Ouray community and think this is a fantastic opportunity to bring the north and south sides of our great San Juan Mountain communities even closer together. We really look forward to making the most of the people, guides, business owners and fantastic mountain terrain in Southwest Colorado,” said Nate Disser.

Founded in 1989, Southwest Adventure Guides is an American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Accredited Guide Service.They offer guiding and instruction with AMGA Certified and IFMGA Certified Alpine, Rock, and Ski guides in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains as well as select domestic and international climbing and skiing destinations.
