LEKI Trekking Poles Awarded Gear Junkie Top Ten Gear Pick

LEKI's Carbonlite AERGON Antishock trekking poles have been awarded the prestigious Top Ten Gear Pick by Gear Junkie for 2009.

LEKI, the world's leading manufacturer of Skiing, Trekking and Nordic Walking poles, today announced their Carbonlite AERGON Antishock trekking poles have been awarded the prestigious Top Ten Gear Pick by Gear Junkie for 2009. Each year Gear Junkie puts dozens of products to the test — tents, packs, boots, bikes, and knives among the mix. The 10 items, including the LEKI Carbonlite poles, clearly stood apart from the rest.

“The Carbonlite AERGON Antishock poles are considered our best of the best, and we are honored to receive this recognition from Gear Junkie” said Greg Wozer, Vice President of LEKI USA. “This is really a nice nod to the product's technologies, including its extreme light weight, the revolutionary new AERGON grip, and other nuances not found in any other trekking pole.”

The 2009 Carbonlite AERGON Antishock pole from LEKI's Ultralite category of trekking poles is made of high modulus carbon fiber and weighs in at just 14 ounces for the pair. Unique features include the new AERGON grip with a revolutionary edgeless outer shape that can either be palmed or held traditionally, the Super Lock System which is the strongest internal pole locking system in the world, and the Soft Antishock System Lite that absorbs energy into the lower pole shaft.

New for 2010, the Carbonlite AERGON trekking poles will also be available with LEKI's new SpeedLock external pole locking system this spring.

“The Carbonlite AERGON poles survived miles of abuse. They telescope from 26 to 53 inches in length. They weigh a feathery 7 ounces per pole. A slight spring feature provides cushioning, and the Carbonlite's handle — which has a rounded top that sits nicely in the hand — offers a palm-grip option for knee-jarring downhill hikes,” said Stephen Regenold, Gear Junkie editor and founder.
