Grassroots Outdoor Alliance Welcomes Peace Surplus as a Retail Member

Grassroots Outdoor Alliance is excited to announce that Peace Surplus has joined our organization as a Retail Member.

Peace Surplus was founded in 1973 in downtown Tucson by the Chatinsky family. The store's roots were based in military surplus with an ample supply of weather balloons, parachutes, military fatigues, gurneys, ammo cans and much more. Even though we continue to carry the surplus name, the store has evolved into a full-service outdoor, camping, hiking, and backpacking store.

Peace Surplus has become the one stop shop in Flagstaff, Arizona for any skier, climber, hiker, hunter, river runner or outdoor enthusiast on any budget. Peace Surplus offers shoppers a wide variety of brand names as well as summer and winter rental programs.

In addition, Peace Surplus has been voted "Best in Flag" for Outdoor Store since 2005 - by the People of Flagstaff Arizona.

Mountain Hardwear National Sales Manager Tom Shores speaks highly of Peace Surplus, “I love these guys. Steve and his crew are great to work with and I have over the years built a great partnership with them. I was in Flag in early July and they were celebrating their 40th anniversary. ”

With such a great reputation in their community, Peace Surplus will fit well into the roster of fine independent outdoor specialty retailers that belong to Grassroots.

Steve Chatinsky, President of Peace Surplus shared his thoughts on joining Grassroots, “Peace Surplus is very proud to become part of the Grassroots Outdoor Alliance. We look forward to working side by side with other great outdoor stores and some of the industries best vendors. We are excited for everyone to have a great 2013/2014 season!”

Peace Surplus will be attending the Grassroots Fall Summit being held from November 18 – 21, 2013 in Knoxville, TN.
