Deuter USA, the U.S. distributor of one of the leading international technical pack brands, has entered into partnership with the leading voice for the responsible use of our wild lands, The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics (LNT). The partnership seeks to deepen the commitment Deuter USA has to promoting the use of public lands for recreation while at the same time protecting them for generations to come.
To kick off its relationship with Leave No Trace, Deuter will offer attendees of the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Show two fun ways to show their support. On Thursday, Aug. 6, Deuter will play host to an “Aug-toberfest” in its booth (#4001) from 4:30 to 6 p.m. For a $10 donation, party goers receive a German beer stein (filled with beer), an authentic German pretzel and entry into a raffle for a prize-packed filled Deuter backpack. The party will be easy to find: Just follow the sounds of the Old World music from Salzburger Echo and look for folks sporting lederhosen.
Both at Thursday’s party, and from 4-6 p.m. each day of ORSM, Deuter will be selling their ACT Trail packs in both 28 and 30-liter sizes The special OR fundraising price for these packs is $50 – a significant savings from their $129 MSRP. The packs will be on sale in the Deuter booth, and all proceeds are earmarked for Leave No Trace.
“Located along the Front Range of the Rockies in Longmont, CO, we at Deuter are in constant use of the abundant recreational lands around us,” explains Becky Marcelliano, Marketing Manager at Deuter USA. “As a company actively encouraging the use of such lands it’s our responsibility to contribute to their preservation and protection so they’ll be as enjoyable in the future as they are today.”
Leave No Trace is a membership-based educational and advocacy organization promoting best practices for the use of public lands. Their mission is to foster the long-term health of the natural world by advocating for standard patterns of use to minimize the impacts of human recreation.
The partnership is taking many forms. Deuter USA is directly supporting Leave No Trace and the Subaru Traveling Trainers as they make their way around the country educating and advocating the 7 Leave No Trace principles. Additionally, Deuter is providing technical packs to LNT employees who are taking their mission into the backcountry around the country including in national and state parks. Lastly, Deuter and LNT are working with key retailers to create an initial touch point for outdoor enthusiasts to become aware of and be educated about LNT principles at the point of sale.
