PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (December 16, 2014) – Imperial Headwear, a division of Paramount Apparel International, announced today it will debut a new line of cooling headwear powered by Coolcore® technology at the 2015 PGA Merchandise Show, January 21st – 23rd, 2015 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Imperial will have this new on display at booth #3373, in addition to product demonstrations.

“This is the next generation of performance fabrics,” said Mike Wrightson, general manager of Imperial Headwear. “Coolcore has unbelievable fabric innovations that not only wick moisture, but also, lower the surface temperature significantly. This will be a game changer in golf headwear with strong consumer appeal.”

Coolcore® provides a chemical-free cooling solution that goes beyond traditional moisture management fabrics or evaporative cooling technologies that typically rely on chemicals. Coolcore® technology is 100 percent free of chemicals, polymers, gels, crystals or phase changing materials, ensuring all Coolcore® benefits never wash out or degrade.

The proprietary Coolcore® technologies utilize the body's own sweat, or added moisture, to achieve cooling. The sophisticated design means that the evaporation rate is regulated and, as a result, the cooling effect of "evaporative cooling" is significantly higher than in conventional materials.

Coolcore® fabrics deliver three distinct functions:

  • Wicking: To move sweat away from your body.
  • MoistureTransportation: To avoid saturation and accelerate drying.
  • Regulated Evaporation: For cooling effect.

The result is up to 30 percent lower surface temperatures, drier garments that do not cling or saturate, healthier chemical-free usage, and zero degradation of the cooling effect over time or washing.

“Being able to regulate body temperature is a tremendous advantage for any golfer playing in warm weather,” said David Shaffer, director of marketing at Imperial Headwear. “Imperial is once again proving why it’s been a market leader for almost a century by being the first to bring this innovative technology to golf.”

Coolcore® fabrics are the first product worldwide to be awarded the Hohenstein Quality Label "Innovative Technology - Cooling Power." With the award, the scientists at the internationally recognized and independent Hohenstein Institute in Bönnigheim, Germany, have confirmed the superior cooling effect of the textiles.

“Coolcore is honored to bring our technology into this market segment with a leader like Imperial Headwear,” said Donna Flood, chief operating officer for Coolcore. “Being an avid golfer, I understand the importance of staying cool on the course for performance and comfort reasons.”

The initial launch of Imperial powered by Coolcore® products will be available for pre-book at the 2015 PGA Merchandise Show for Spring 2015 delivery. All products will be subject to the same customization and quick-turn service for which Imperial is known.
