COCOON by Design Salt, an innovator in lightweight sleep systems and travel accessories is pleased to announce their partnership with Buzz Off Insect Shield, LLC, for spring 2009. This collection represents the first time that Insect Shield® technology has been applied to travel accessories.

Built-in Insect Shield repellency provides effective, invisible and odorless protection against bugs, making this collection a must for anyone seeking protection from biting insects. Apparel treated with Insect Shield technology provides effective protection through seventy washings and, on gear, the repellent benefit lasts through 25 launderings or through six months of constant exposure to weathering, including both sun and rain. The active ingredient, permethrin, is a commercially produced version of a natural insect repellent found in certain chrysanthemum plants and has been used successfully in the United Sates for over thirty years.

The COCOON Insect Shield® collection will be unveiled at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, August 2008, and includes:

• Insect Shield® Safari Bag: Slip into this lightweight, breathable, versatile bag anytime you want extra protection from bugs including mosquitoes, ticks, flies, and fleas. During the day, it's great for reading a book by the lake, napping in your hammock, or as a beach blanket to catch some rays without as many bothersome bugs. At night, slide it over your TravelSheet, MummyLiner or sleeping bag for increased protection from biting insects for a better night's sleep. The COCOON Insect Shield Safari Bag comes in 3 styles sized kids and adults and a variety of fabrics. Perfect for any trip - from Alaska to Africa, from summer camp to a business hotel, from your tent to an RV. No matter where your adventures take you, your Insect Shield Safari Bag will help keep you protected.

• Insect Shield® Safari CoolMax Wrap: Keep the bugs at bay with the new COCOON Insect Shield CoolMax Wrap. This lightweight soft fabric throw is great anytime you want added protection – perfect for snuggling up with a book in camp, on the beach or on the front porch of your cabin. Makes a great beach or picnic blanket to help keep bothersome flies away. The 100% CoolMax fabric is very breathable and wicks moisture away so it is perfect for adventures in hot, humid, buggy climates. But don't wait for your adventure to begin to use it – pull it out on the plane or in the car for a little extra warmth and you may find yourself drifting off to sleep.

• Insect Shield® Safari Bug Net: If your next adventure takes you someplace with biting insects, pack our new Insect Shield Safari Bug Net for extra protection. Available in 2 colors and single or double sizes, they easily pack into small stuff sacks and come with a kit for hanging. Mosquitoes are attracted to color contrasts so most people will prefer the white net for indoor use and the gray net for outdoor use. With Insect Shield repellent technology, we are able to use a more open weave of netting to allow more air flow for a more comfortable night's sleep.

• Insect Shield® Safari Nightwear: Complete with a small stuff sack that fits in the palm of your hand, Safari Nightwear is perfect for the traveler who does not want to be weighed down by heavy gear. Comfortable, compact Safari NightWear will help protect against biting insects no matter where your adventures take you. Whether you wear them on an African safari or in the urban jungle, take along our Insect Shield® Safari NightWear for more peace of mind on your next trip. Available in Silk or Egyptian cotton for men and women.

• Insect Shield® Safari Silk Scarf: Our 100% Silk Scarf is an ideal accessory to help protect you against insects, sun, wind and cold, or to dress-up an outfit. With Insect Shield® repellent technology, you'll keep the bugs away in style.

• Insect Shield® Safari Silk Sarong: No travel ensemble is complete without a Sarong. Now with Insect Shield®, you'll be glad you packed it when the bugs are out in force. From a pashmina to a long skirt or dress, you'll think of many ways to use this multi-function piece. The Sarong can even be used as a beach towel, a blanket, and more!

• Insect Shield® Safari Silk Socks: When the mosquitoes come out at night, wear these thin silk socks when it's too warm for thicker socks but you want extra protection for your feet and ankles. Great with sandals! Silk adapts naturally to changing temperatures to keep your feet cool and dry. Featuring reinforced heels and toes; they are calf-high to maximize protection from biting insects. Stay out and enjoy your evening longer with Insect Shield® repellent technology.

• Insect Shield® Safari Silk Gloves: Ultra-light form fitting Silk Gloves will help protect your hands from insects and sun. The thin fabric is excellent for photography; fishing or any time fine dexterity is needed. Silk wicks perspiration away from your skin keeping your hands drier. Instead of putting insect repellent on your hands, try our Insect Shield Safari Silk Gloves.

About Insect Shield Technology: In July 2003, Buzz Off Insect Shield, LLC, introduced the first EPA-registered insect-repellent apparel. Insect Shield® Repellent Apparel technology provides effective, invisible and odorless protection against mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges (no-see-ums) through 70 launderings. Insect Shield apparel categories include outdoor, golf, hunting, fishing, and equestrian. Insect Shield® Repellent Gear technology is proven to repel mosquitoes, ticks, flies, and fleas through six months of constant exposure to weathering (sun/rain). Insect Shield gear product categories include camping, patio, beach, pet, and equestrian. Insect Shield technology has the potential to be an important tool in the battle against insect-borne diseases and improve the health of people worldwide. In partnership with a number of agencies and international relief organizations, Insect Shield technology is being used for apparel and other items that people use daily to aid in protection against insects.
