Tilley plans to incorporate the EPA registered, Buzz Off Insect Shield repellent technology into select products available for spring 2008.

Tilley's famous hat offers UPF 50+ protection, water-repellency, crushable and packable convenience, hidden security pockets, and a lifetime guarantee. With the addition of Buzz Off technology they can now add bug repellency to this impressive line-up of product features and benefits.

"We are continually looking for ways to make the best even better. The addition of a Buzz Off hat in our line provides our customers with protection from the sun, rain and now the bugs. The best just got better,” says Dave Kappele, director – North American wholesale, Tilley Endurables.

The patent-pending Buzz Off Insect Shield technology is EPA registered to provide effective insect protection through 70 washings. This level of protection from bugs is important as the number of West Nile cases in the United States is closing in on four times what it was just one year ago, according to a recent article in the New York Times. Buzz Off Insect Shield products help protect from not only pesky everyday bugs, but also those can potentially carry disease such as West Nile and Lyme.

About The Tilley Hat / Alex Tilley:
The Tilley Endurables story began in 1980 when Alex Tilley was sailing his thirty-foot sloop on the waves of Lake Ontario and his hat blew off, again. This was a regular problem for Alex, so he decided then and there that he would develop a hat that was long lasting, comfortable, sun- protective and would suit the needs of sailors.
More than 250,000 Tilley Hats are manufactured every year, most of them being made just a stone's throw away from Alex Tilley's office in Toronto, Ontario. His unique attention to detail, design and production goes into every Hat that is made and sold by Tilley Endurables – Alex calls it Canadian persnicketiness. Tilley Hats are sold through five company stores and 2,600 associated retailers in 18 countries worldwide.
