Bergans to Unveil Expanded Active Apparel Collection and Redesigned Pack Lines at

Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2015

LONGMONT, Colo. - July 29, 2015 - Known for its mix of expedition quality apparel, technical hardgoods and lifestyle products, Bergans of Norway is unveiling several new lifestyle and active sport apparel collections, as well as two redesigned pack lines for the 2016 spring-summer season at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market.

"This will be our broadest and deepest spring-summer offering yet," states Bergans USA VP of Sales and Marketing Keith Patterson. "Along with great style, the line includes items made of summer weight Merino wool, organic cottons, recycled materials and a new plant-based environmentally friendly polyester called Ecodear™ co-developed with Toray."

Bergans clothing collection for spring-summer 2016 will feature more than 100 new and current styles ranging from technical jackets, casual shirts, shorts, pants, and travel wear. The new Eidfjord jacket, Dokka Piqué shirt, Cecilie Singlet, and Larvik jacket are examples of the variety and depth of the line.

The Eidfjord is a lightweight, technical, 3-layer waterproof breathable jacket using a new fabric called Ecodear™. Ecodear was a co-development project between Bergans and Toray. It's a 30 percent plant-based environmentally friendly polyester, designed to reduce the amount of petroleum-based materials used in apparel production, and thus their overall carbon footprint. Available in men's and women's versions, MSRP for the Eidfjord is $339.00.

Designed as a casual shirt for travel or daily use, the Dokka Piqué Shirt is made of Byokan®, a soft breathable fabric with "Air Bridge" technology that wicks and diffuses moisture away from the skin. Available in both men's and women's versions, the Dokka has a polo style collar, hemmed sleeves, and an MSRP of $49.00.

The Cecilie Singlet is one of the many new women's specific clothing items Bergans is offering for 2016. Developed by Bergans professional adventurer Cecilie Skog, it's made of organic cotton and Spandex for indoor climbing, yoga, or just lounging around. As a travel piece, it washes well and maintains its softness and shape. MSRP is $79.00.

For early spring, or cool summer nights, the Larvik is part of Bergans' lifestyle and travel line. This men's jacket features a poly/cotton blend wind-repellent fabric, high collar, two front and two chest button flap pockets, snap adjustments on the sleeves, and a front storm flap. MSRP is $159.00.

Having started out as a pack company in 1908, Bergans is debuting a complete redesign of their lightest pack line, the Helium, as well as a redesign of its Skarstind packs.

The Helium, Bergans' popular alpine backpack, has a new strong and comfortable

adjustable torso carrying system called the QuickAdjust™ PRO. Its weight was reduced by as much as 15 percent, and yet still maintains its high carrying capacity and durability. The multi-function pack also features a 3D molded hip belt, top loading and vertical full front zip access, several external pockets, a multi-position customizable compression strap system, and diagonal ski carry, ice axe/tracking pole attachment points. It's available in 55 and 40-liter capacities, and men's and women's specific versions. MSRPs are $189.00 for the 55, and $169 for the 40.

Skarstind packs are Bergans tensioned mesh back panel line. The redesigned packs are available in five sizes (48, 40, 32, 28 and 22 liter), have an overall sleeker shape; are lighter, in the case of the 32, one pound ten ounces lighter; and have improved comfortable hip belts with a wide range of motion. The new Skarstind line also includes three brand new hip packs, 3, 6 and 10-liter models. MSRPs for the full line range from $39.00 to $139.00.

Bergans will be exhibiting at Outdoor Retailer's Open Air Demo (booth #D358) August 4 at Cemetery Point Marina in Huntsville, UT, and at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, August 5-8 (booth #14017).

ABOUT BERGANS OF NORWAY

Bergans was established in 1908, when Ole Ferdinand Bergan invented the first anatomical backpack. Today backpacks, functional outdoor clothing and tents are part of the portfolio of Bergans of Norway, as well as the ALLY brand of packable canoes. Adventurers such as South Pole conqueror Roald Amundsen, Mount Everest pioneer Sir Edmund Hillary, and heroes of our time such as Polar explorers Rune Gjeldnes or Cecilie Skog trust Bergans equipment on their expeditions.

The Scandinavian brand was established in 1908 by Ole F. Bergan after he invented the anatomical frame pack. During a hunting trip, he cut and shaped a juniper branch to match the curve of his back and attached it to his heavy, loose-fitting rucksack, a design now mirrored in every anatomical backpack produced today, including Bergans award winning Glittertind. The company offers a broad range of backpacks, tents, foldable canoes, and technical and fashionably functional outdoor and ski clothing.

The headquarter of Bergans Fritid AS is situated in Hokksund, Norway, 60 km southwest of Oslo, where 90-plus employees work in development, research, design and sales. Bergans is a market leader in Norway and steadily growing in several export markets in Europe and North America (www.bergans.com).
