Tubbs Colorado Romp Event Raises over $65,000

Tubbs’ fourth annual Romp to Stomp event raised over $65,000 for the Denver Metropolitan Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Over 1500 people attend the fourth annual Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer event at the Frisco Nordic Center in Frisco, CO on Saturday, March 11th.

This year's event raised over $65,000 for the Denver Metropolitan Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; an increase of $25,000 over last year's event! All the money raised for the Komen Foundation is to benefit breast cancer research, education and screening.

"The Romp to Stomp is always a wonderful event,” said Joan Davids, event co-chairperson, “and this year was no exception. “The racers and walkers all brought a lot of passion for the cause. My thanks to all involved,” said Davids.

The event's national sponsors were Columbia Sportswear and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. Local sponsors included KSMT Summit County Radio, KTUN Classic Rock Radio, KSKE Country Radio, Mix 100 Radio, Frisco Nordic Center, Wells Fargo Bank, Summit Medical Center, Slifer, Smith and Frampton Real Estate and MyChelle skin care products.

The morning event began with a 3K Fun Race. Maceij Swiecieki of Vail, Colorado took home top prize in the men's division and Chris Keating of Denver, Colorado won in the men's 50+ category. On the women's side, breast cancer survivor Kathleen Jenkins of Denver took top honors. Beth Welander from Denver took first place in the women's division, and the winner of the women's 50+ division was another Denver resident, Kathy Skulski. Danelle Ballengee, Tubbs sponsored racer, took the title for Best Overall Time.

Everyone was a winner in the 3k and 5k fun walks. “We literally had the time of our lives,” said snowshoer Sharon Forinash of Denver. “Thank you so much for organizing such a fun event.”
