San Francisco, California - Timbuk2 Designs Inc. (Timbuk2), one of the leading manufacturers of messenger bags, computer carrying cases, daypacks and accessories for the outdoor, bicycle and travel markets, today announced the appointment of Perry Klebahn as CEO. Klebahn, who has more than 16 years outdoor industry experience and an extensive background in product design, marketing and engineering, is currently teaching at Stanford's Institute of Design's d.school.

“Timbuk2 is an iconic brand that lives at the crossroads of urban and outdoor, offering products that feature everyday functionality and quality design,” says Klebahn. “The company is a pioneer in mass customization and specialty, multi-channel retailing through internet, retail, and wholesale. I look forward to joining the great team of people at Timbuk2 and working with them to develop the brand and the products.”

Klebahn was the creator, founder and CEO of Atlas Snowshoes where he designed, manufactured and marketed the first high performance snowshoe. Klebahn then went on to become EVP of Patagonia where he managed the company's direct business as well as the North American wholesale, operations and marketing groups. Most recently, he was appointed to the founding faculty of the Stanford Institute of Design's ‘d.school' where he helped create the school as a multidiscipline, collaborative place for Stanford students and faculty in engineering, medicine, business, the humanities, and education to learn design, while thinking and working together to solve big problems in a human centered way. Klebahn will continue to teach classes at the d.school.

“Perry has the perfect combination of skills to be an outstanding leader for Timbuk2. He is a native of San Francisco who has demonstrated a life-long passion that blends the disciplines of product design and engineering in order to build products and brands.” says Scott Elaine Case, Board Member and Managing Director of VMG Equity Partners, an investor in the company.

Klebahn will officially start as CEO on December 11, 2006 at Timbuk2's headquarters in San Francisco, California.
