Thule Inc. today announced the creation of a business unit dedicated to its Professional line of rack systems and accessories for contractors and tradesmen that it introduced last month at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. The new business unit, which includes dedicated engineering resources and personnel, will be lead by Kevin Harris, who has been promoted to Director, Channel and Product Management – Professional Line.

“The launch of Thule Professional at SEMA exceeded our expectations and it is apparent that there is great growth potential for Thule in this market,” said Fred Clark, President of Thule Inc. “Our initial product offering, marketing support, and sales programs were integral in Professional's initial success and under Kevin's guidance we anticipate more great products and growth towards a category leadership position.”

Harris, previously a Product Manager in charge of Thule's paddlesport, ski, and roof rack systems and accessories, will be responsible for product development, sales channel development, and marketing support for the Professional line. Harris joined Thule in 1999 from Cleveland Golf where he was a Design Engineer. Harris will report directly to Clark.

Thule also announced the promotion of Jeff Edgerly to Lead Product Engineer – Professional Line. Edgerly was previously Sr. Design Engineer and he will continue to report to Vin Bove, VP Operations.

The Thule Professional line of contractor grade rack systems for vans and pickup truck beds and cap systems uses a heavy duty Aluminum load bar with a “tri-slot” design as a platform to mount trade specific innovative and time-saving accessories. These accessories currently include lift assist ladder carriers, a 100% stainless steel lockable conduit carrier, and a tilting load stop system that quickly adjusts for fast loading and securing of materials

Thule Professional products come with the backing of Thule's lifetime warranty and are scheduled to be available at retail locations in the first quarter of 2007.

Thule Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary within the Thule Group. It is the leading US manufacturer of car rack products, with production sites in Seymour, Connecticut and Chicago, Illinois. Thule's product line features multi-purpose roof racks, roof top boxes, rear mount racks, and accessories for outdoor equipment including bikes, skis, snowboards, kayaks, canoes, and surfboards.
